Multiple Sclerosis and Teen Obesity

In an article published this week, the writer draws a correlation between having excess body weight during adolescence and developing MS (multiple sclerosis) later in life.  The study only focused on women.  The study followed 238,000 women between 1976 and 2002.  The study only catalogued white women, so there could be a discrepancy between races.

Multiple sclerosis is a chronic disorder of the central nervous system in which the immune system begins attacking its own cells erroneously.  The study pointed out interesting facts and left doors open to debate as it only focused on women.
