Ninety three thousand children younger than five years old have been treated in U.S. emergency departments for stair-related injuries. The study has been conducted at the Center for Injury Research and Policy at Nationwide Children’s Hospital. Children younger than one years old were more likely than older children to be injured while being carried down the stairs or in a baby stroller. These children are three times more likely to be hospitalized than children injured by other mechanisms.
I think it is a issue that parents should pay attention to. They should check to make sure their stairs are secure and dependable so their child doesn’t end up in the emergency room. I was surprised to hear about this and it continues to show you the importance of having your home baby safe.
